Refrigeration Upgrades Are Customer-Selected: What You Need to Know Before Ordering a Mortuary Cooler

🏗️ Introduction

When it comes to outfitting your morgue, funeral home, or hospital with a reliable mortuary cooler, selecting the correct refrigeration system is just as important as choosing the right model. At American Mortuary Coolers, we build all of our walk-in and upright mortuary coolers with a standard, base-model refrigeration unit, included in the listed price on our website.

However, not all environments are the same—and it’s the customer’s responsibility to select any necessary refrigeration upgrades at the time of purchase.

❄️ Why Standard Refrigeration Isn’t Always Enough

Our base refrigeration systems are designed to perform efficiently in controlled indoor environments up to 95°F ambient temperature. These systems are perfect for most funeral homes and prep rooms with regulated HVAC conditions.

But for facilities located in:

  • Hot climates (Southwestern states, Florida, rural county storage)

  • Unventilated or poorly air-conditioned buildings

  • High-humidity environments

  • Mobile setups or exterior placements

…a standard system may not be sufficient. Without an upgrade, your cooler could suffer from performance failure, inconsistent temperature, condensation issues, or even complete system shutdown.

⚠️ Customer Responsibility: Refrigeration Upgrades Must Be Chosen at Time of Order

To maintain fair pricing and customization flexibility, American Mortuary Coolers does not automatically include upgraded refrigeration systems in any listing.

💡 If you require a more powerful system, redundant compressors, or outdoor-rated refrigeration, you must request that during the ordering process.

Failing to do so may result in:

  • 🧯 Overheating or compressor burnout

  • ❌ Voided warranties due to installation outside of recommended conditions

  • 🧊 Inability to maintain 35°F in high-heat zones

  • 💸 Additional retrofit costs after delivery

🔧 Common Upgrade Options Available by Request

We offer high-performance refrigeration options to accommodate:

  • 🔺 Ambient temps exceeding 95°F

  • 🌬️ Outdoor installations

  • 🌀 High-humidity indoor facilities

  • 🔄 Redundant refrigeration (backup systems)

  • 🔋 Power-efficient or split-system builds

Just speak with one of our product experts at the time of ordering—we’ll evaluate your facility specs and recommend the best refrigeration system for your needs.

💬 Why We Don’t Auto-Upgrade

Adding high-performance systems to every cooler would increase base pricing for all customers, even those who don’t need them. Instead, we price all units with a reliable standard system and offer upgrades à la carte. This transparent model keeps costs fair and ensures that every customer gets exactly what they need—nothing more, nothing less.

✅ Final Checklist Before Ordering

  • 📍 What is your ambient room temperature?

  • 🌡️ Is the space climate controlled year-round?

  • 🚪 Will the cooler be placed near loading docks or exterior doors?

  • 💧 Does your area have high humidity levels?

If any answer raises a red flag, request a refrigeration upgrade before submitting your order.

📦 Don’t Risk Downtime

An improperly matched refrigeration unit can lead to thousands of dollars in repairs or replacement—not to mention critical failure during high-usage periods.

Order with confidence and precision. Trust American Mortuary Coolers to provide the expertise and flexibility your facility deserves.
